How Much Does a Website in Vancouver Cost?

If you’ve been thinking about building a website in Vancouver and you’re looking for an idea of cost expectations, we’ll lay it out for you. It’s a wide range, but for most agencies like ours, an entry-level website project is around $3,000. However, this doesn’t mean there aren’t exceptions to that rule.
For example, if you’re building a non-profit organization or your website will give back to the community here in Greater Vancouver, we're happy to help on price. And if you’re building a single-page website or landing page, those will typically come in at a cheaper price point as well.
But in general, most websites we build come in at between $3,000 and $10,000.
What makes a website more expensive?
There are plenty of ways to rack up the bill on a web build, but we’ll list a few of the most common ways.
Importing large amounts of content
If you’re moving your 20-year-old website over from another platform and need to transfer 1,000 blog posts with it, that will come with a price tag.
Customizations and interactions
Websites with applications built in, lots of movement, or custom interactions are always going to be a bit more expensive than a static website. It’s simply takes more hours for us to build your site.
Here's a simple interaction we made for our client at Elevated Pizza in Chilliwack. Spinning pizza and calzones, anyone?
Custom copywriting
Most of our clients hire the team here at Something Great to write the copy for their websites, which can add a bit of money to the final cost. That said, we’ve worked with individuals who have a knack for writing and have elected to provide us with the copy, saving them a few bucks along the way.
3rd party integrations
This isn’t necessary for basic websites, but for some businesses, your website will need to speak to other 3rd party platforms. Say a website for a pizza restaurant needs to be able to take orders and pass them off to a POS platform. This would take longer than sending people directly to a 3rd party platform like UberEats.
Custom designs
If you require a custom design, created to reflect your brand perfectly from the ground up, that’s going to require some hours from our design team at Something Great. Building on a template can help keep costs down, and they typically still look really great.
Other costs to consider when building a website in Vancouver
Some companies will charge for the items below. Not us. We include the following in all of our site builds.
SEO considerations
We’ve been SEO experts in Vancouver for over a decade, and every website we push live, no matter the price tag, is optimized for search engines from an on-page perspective. Our websites are built technically sound, with proper Sitemaps submitted to Google and tags to help you rank quickly.
Responsive mobile designs
Other companies charge for this, but we just think that in this year, every website should be built to look great on both desktop and mobile devices, period. We would never and will never take a website live that doesn’t look great on both platforms, and you won’t pay extra for this service if you work with us.
Security measures
If you opt to go with a Webflow website built by our Vancouver Webflow Agency, security is included in your hosting fees. If you’re switching to Webflow from a WordPress site, you’ll quickly look back on your days updating plugins and patches and laugh joyously knowing those awful times are behind you.
Meetings and phone calls
When you need to meet with us, we meet with you. When you have a question or a comment about the direction of your website, we answer the phone or respond to your email quickly. Web design and development companies in Vancouver get a bad reputation for being unresponsive. Not us. It’s why we’re consistently named a top-rated agency in Vancouver on Sortlist, Clutch, and AgencySpotter. And it's why we get reviews like the one below, from Bart Harla of King Carts.
