The KFC Slogan is Getting Pulled…For Now
August 27, 2020

KFC’s first franchise opened in 1952, and its first slogan appeared only four years later in 1956. That famous KFC slogan that’s synonymous with the brand at this point: It’s Finger Lickin’ Good.
The company came out this week with a statement, calling their own slogan “the most inappropriate slogan of 2020”. KFC will be pulling the slogan from their global advertising campaigns for “a little while”, likely until the pandemic is over. At which point, we’re sure to see some pretty hilarious spots from this master advertiser. This is all so ridiculous and bizarre that it’s actually been covered in a Snopes article. And yes, it’s been verified a true story.
In the meantime, to address the announcement, they’ve partnered with the agency Mother to launch a campaign that addresses their awkward slogan head-on.
